Primary Responsibilities :
Job Title: Operations Manager for Smart Meters Assembly Business
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Employment Type: Full-time
Education Qualification: B. Eng or BSc Eng & MBA
Experience: Minimum 5 years in an Operations role or Supply Chain or Team Leadership
Leaves: 1-month leave per year, every two years, sponsored air ticket from India to Uganda
Key Role Responsibilities:
1. Sales and Business Development:
- Identify new opportunities to sell Smart Meters through on-ground research, connections, and open market tenders.
- Build relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Manage associates and track progress in sales.
2. Hiring and Team Management:
- Oversee recruitment of skilled technicians, quality control staff, assemblers, and all support staff.
- Manage cross-functional teams: sales, production, quality control, maintenance, and finance.
- Foster a positive working environment and ensure team spirit is maintained.
3. Supply Chain and Inventory Management:
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure raw material supply.
- Implement inventory control systems and plan raw material requirements.
- Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
- Manage the procurement process.
4. Production, Planning, and Execution:
- Develop production schedules with teams to meet customer demand and tender delivery timelines.
- Monitor processes to ensure efficiency.
- Ensure strong quality standards by hiring QC teams.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce costs.
5. Financial Management:
- Plan the operation budget and forecasts to present to management.
- Analyze production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities; implement cost-control measures.
- Monitor financial performance and provide updates to senior management.
6. Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
- Ensure relevant compliance standards are maintained as per safety and environmental laws.
- Obtain all necessary certifications required from regulatory bodies.
- Liaise and build relations with regulatory bodies to ensure up-to-date knowledge of industry standards.
