Position Summary:
The Senior Procurement Officer will manage and execute the procurement process for pharmaceuticals across multiple pharmacy outlets. This role demands expertise in ensuring a consistent supply of medications while maintaining cost efficiency and adhering to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Management:
- Source and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal prices and terms for pharmaceutical products.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers.
- Manage the entire purchase cycle from order placement to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate supply.
Inventory Control:
- Monitor stock levels and forecast demand to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Coordinate with pharmacy outlets to understand their specific needs and adjust orders accordingly.
- Implement strategies to minimize stockouts and overstock situations.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all purchased products meet regulatory and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any issues related to product quality and safety.
Cost Management:
- Conduct cost analysis and market research to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement strategies to achieve procurement savings while maintaining product quality.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
- Prepare and present reports on procurement activities and performance metrics.
Vendor Management:
- Evaluate supplier performance and develop improvement plans where necessary.
- Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers promptly and professionally.
Experience Requirements:
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical purchasing, preferably managing procurement for multiple pharmacy outlets.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical products and the pharmaceutical supply chain.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
