Job Title: Paint Chemist
Location: Factory at Maheshtala
Overview:
The Paint Chemist will be responsible for developing, testing, and improving paint and coating products. The role involves conducting laboratory experiments, analyzing data, collaborating with R&D, and ensuring the quality and performance of paint formulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in organic chemistry or paint technology and experience working in the coatings and paint industry.
Experience Requirements:
Education:
- M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry or M.Tech in Paint Technology or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of laboratory experience in the coating and paint industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development: Develop and improve paint and surface coatings, including epoxy, polyurethane (PU), aluminum paints, and protective coatings.
- Testing and Analysis: Conduct all testing related to paints, including raw material (RM) testing, pigment dispersion, and scale-up processes. Familiarity with production processes, ball mills, bead mills, and other relevant equipment.
- Formulation and Experimentation: Prepare compounds, test solutions, and reagents for experiments. Develop and customize formulations and analytical methods.
- Research and Development Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D team to analyze, interpret, and develop testing methods. Document findings and prepare technical reports, specifications, and testing standards.
- Laboratory Management: Maintain and clean laboratory instruments and equipment. Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and order necessary supplies and chemicals, keeping track of expiration dates.
- Production Planning: Estimate raw materials (RM) and packaging materials (PM) requirements for production planning. Scale up processes from R&D to production.
- Technical Support: Provide technical services and support for market complaint analysis and address any issues related to product performance.
Skills and Competencies:
- Expertise in paints and surface coatings, especially those based on epoxy, PU, aluminum paints, and protective coatings.
- Proficient in paint testing, production processes, and equipment such as ball mills and bead mills.
- Strong understanding of pigment dispersion and raw material testing.
- Experience with scale-up processes from R&D to production.
- Ability to prepare detailed technical reports and documentation.
- Excellent laboratory skills, including maintaining equipment and managing supplies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
