Primary Responsibilities :
Job Title: Lighting & AV Production Specialist
Core Responsibilities:
Technical Design & Implementation:
- Design and implement comprehensive lighting systems and solutions for live events.
- Create lighting plot plans and technical documentation.
- Develop channel management systems and control interfaces.
- Optimize routing algorithms for complex lighting setups.
- Program and operate lighting control boards and systems.
Production & Operations:
- Execute load-in and load-out of band and rental equipment.
- Set up and break down event equipment efficiently.
- Perform lighting adjustments based on artist specifications.
- Operate spotlights and manage show operations during performances.
- Support production needs throughout the venue, ensuring smooth operations.
- Coordinate with visiting production crews to meet technical requirements.
- Make real-time lighting adjustments during performances as needed.
Equipment Management:
- Maintain and repair lighting equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage inventory and equipment documentation accurately.
- Ensure all equipment complies with safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on lighting systems.
- Assist audio crew with equipment setup when necessary.
Collaboration & Development:
- Collaborate with stakeholders on creative lighting designs and event requirements.
- Coordinate with electricians and technical staff to execute lighting designs.
- Contribute to lighting technology improvements and innovations.
- Stay current with industry trends and techniques to enhance lighting solutions.
- Train and mentor junior technicians, helping them develop their skills.
Experience Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- 3-4 years of experience in tour or stage production.
- Expertise in stage lighting and professional audio systems.
- Strong programming skills for lighting control systems.
- Experience with basic video systems.
- Proficiency in industry-standard lighting software.
- Superior communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College Degree in Technical Theater, Lighting Design, or a related field.
- Experience with advanced lighting control boards.
- Knowledge of DMX protocols and networking.
- Background in live event production.
- Certification in relevant safety protocols.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with lighting control systems (e.g., grandMA, Hog, Avolites).
- Knowledge of DMX/RDM protocols.
- Familiarity with power distribution systems.
- Experience in audio-visual integration.
- Proficiency in CAD software for lighting plot creation.
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work in environments with moderate to loud noise levels, extreme lighting changes, and the presence of strobes and moving lights.
- Capability to wear a radio earpiece during shifts.
- Ability to work at heights and manage extended periods of standing or walking.
