Primary Responsibilities :
Job Title: Mechanical Team Leader
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Mill Manager
Role Overview:
Responsible for all mechanical maintenance across the paper mill and converting plant. Ensures equipment reliability and performance above 85% OEE. Leads team planning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:

Execute mechanical preventive and corrective maintenance plans.

Manage shutdowns, inspections, and machine overhauls.

Troubleshoot mechanical failures and conduct root cause analysis.

Lead a team of technicians, providing coaching and performance feedback.

Drive cost-effective spare parts inventory management.

Implement Lean practices to reduce waste and inefficiencies.

Track and report KPIs including MTBF, MTTR, and downtime metrics.
Experience Requirements:
Key Competencies:
In-depth mechanical systems expertise.
Strong RCA and problem-solving skills.
CMMS usage and planning capabilities.
Leadership in high-pressure situations.
Safety-first mindset (LOTO compliance, audits).
Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.
5–7 years in mechanical maintenance (paper industry preferred).
Experience on tissue machines and project implementation.
