Job Title: Senior Planning and Control Engineer
Role Overview
The Senior Planning and Control Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules, resources, and budgets to ensure projects are completed on time and within cost parameters.
This role plays a critical part in aligning execution strategy with project objectives through structured planning, performance tracking, risk analysis, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, baselines, and execution plans.
Prepare work breakdown structures (WBS) and activity sequencing.
Establish project milestones and critical path analysis.
2. Progress Monitoring & Control
Track project progress against approved schedules.
Perform variance analysis and identify schedule deviations.
Prepare recovery plans and corrective action strategies where required.
Provide accurate progress measurements and performance metrics.
3. Risk Management
Identify schedule-related risks and opportunities.
Conduct schedule risk analysis and scenario planning.
Develop mitigation and contingency plans to minimize impact on timelines.
Experience Requirements:
4. Resource Planning & Allocation
Align manpower, materials, and equipment resources with project schedules.
Maintain integrated resource planning systems.
Ensure optimal resource utilization across project phases.
5. Cost Control Support
Assist in cost monitoring and budget tracking activities.
Identify cost trends and potential overruns.
Support the evaluation and processing of contractor claims and change orders.
6. Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clients.
Provide regular updates on schedule performance and risks.
Facilitate alignment between planning, engineering, procurement, and site execution teams.
7. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare and present weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports.
Generate S-curves, histograms, earned value analysis (EVA), and critical path reports.
Maintain proper documentation of schedule revisions and approvals.
8. Contractor Planning Oversight
Review and validate contractor planning packages and schedules.
Monitor contractor performance against contractual requirements.
Ensure compliance with planning standards and contractual timelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the construction industry.
Mandatory experience in high-rise building projects.
Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
Knowledge of scheduling techniques, critical path method (CPM), and earned value management (EVM).
Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
