Primary Responsibilities :
1. Financial Reporting & Accounting
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll accounting, and month-end close activities.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Establish, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Manage reconciliations for bank accounts, inventory, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany accounts, where applicable.
Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory consultants to ensure compliance and reporting accuracy.
2. Manufacturing Cost Accounting
Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and cost tracking processes for manufacturing operations.
Monitor raw material costs, labor costs, overhead absorption, waste, scrap, and manufacturing variance analysis.
Partner with operations and plant leadership teams to understand production economics and identify opportunities to improve profitability and margins.
Ensure accurate inventory valuation for raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, and packaging materials.
Analyze production costs and recommend cost optimization initiatives.
3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and cash flow planning activities.
Develop financial models to support capital expenditures, production expansion, workforce planning, and commercial growth initiatives.
Track budget versus actual performance and provide actionable insights and recommendations to management.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing efficiency, working capital, gross margins, inventory turnover, and operating expenses.
Support pricing strategies, customer profitability analysis, and product margin evaluations.
4. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Manage cash flow forecasting and funding requirements to support business operations and growth objectives.
Monitor and optimize working capital, including inventory levels, receivables, payables, and vendor payment terms.
Support banking relationships, credit facilities, investor reporting, grant applications, and board reporting requirements.
Implement and maintain controls over purchasing, approval workflows, payment processing, and expense management.
5. Compliance, Tax & Internal Controls
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including Georgia sales and use tax requirements where applicable.
Maintain documentation and reporting related to grants, incentives, R&D credits, tax credits, and capital investment programs.
Design and implement scalable internal control frameworks suitable for a growing manufacturing organization.
Support insurance renewals, asset documentation, risk assessments, and risk management initiatives.
Ensure compliance with statutory, financial, and regulatory reporting requirements.
6. Systems & Process Improvement
Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting, ERP, inventory management, and manufacturing cost systems.
Improve financial workflows across purchasing, receiving, inventory management, production, invoicing, and reporting processes.
Develop dashboards, management reports, and analytical tools for leadership and operational teams.
Build and strengthen the finance function to support growth, audits, fundraising initiatives, and future business expansion.
Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements, and process standardization across finance operations.

Experience Requirements:
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or MBA (Master of Business Administration) preferred.
Experience
7–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, chemical, materials, or process-based production environments.
Proven experience managing end-to-end accounting and finance functions.
Experience supporting business growth, operational scaling, and process improvements.
Technical Knowledge & Expertise
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, internal controls, and month-end/year-end close processes.
